Henry Tam has served as a pastor of San Francisco Bible Church since 1999. Raised in Seattle in a Chinese-Filipino immigrant household, he brings a deep, personal heart for immigrant church communities, having placed his faith in Christ through an immigrant Chinese church in college. Henry holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Washington—where he answered the call to ministry during a mission trip to Indonesia—and an M.Div. from The Master’s Seminary, during which he interned at a trilingual immigrant Chinese church. Henry is passionately dedicated to proclaiming Christ and seeing the Lord build His church. He is blessed to be married to his wife, Cindy, and together they are raising their three children.
Stephen Chen has served as a pastor at Redeemer Bible Fellowship since 2008. He obtained his M.Div. and Th.M. from The Master's Seminary. He is married to his wife, Shirley, and they have four children. Redeemer is the English ministry of Chinese Church in Christ Mountain View, the very church where he came to faith in Christ as a high school student. He is deeply grateful for the local church, loves pastoral ministry, and is committed to helping pastors build healthy immigrant churches for the glory of God.
Jonathan Szeto serves as the Senior Pastor and English Pastor of Laguna Chinese Baptist Church in Elk Grove, California. He heard the gospel message in a Christian home and grew up in a three language congregation Chinese church. Oftentimes, he would attend bilingual services, but only understanding English. When he left home for college, Jonathan attended a multi-ethnic American church to help him distinguish between what was Chinese and what was Christian. After working for a couple of years and graduating from seminary, Jon was called to go back and serve in a Chinese Immigrant Church context, where he has continued serving for 17 years. He has a heart to see all churches become healthier, especially immigrant churches. Jonathan and his wife Miranda have five children (ages 5-16).
Tranwei Yu is the senior pastor and English pastor of Chinese Grace Bible Church, a trilingual church in Sacramento, California. As a child of immigrants, he grew up attending CGBC and later returned as the church’s pastor because of his desire to see God raise up healthy immigrant congregations that are shaped by biblical convictions and centered on the gospel. Tranwei is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary (MDiv) and previously worked as a math teacher in inner city Los Angeles. He and his wife, Abijah, have been blessed with three children—Josiah, Verity, and Jude. Tranwei enjoys coaching his kids’ sports teams in his spare time and telling dad jokes all the time.
John is married to his college sweetheart, Angela since June 1989 and has four adult daughters. John and Angela are also grandparents to three grandchildren who live in Tennessee with their parents.
John was in pastoral ministry since 1987 and served in the Korean American immigrant church until 1998. Church planting became the journey from 1998 to 2025 as churches were planted in San Diego, San Jose, and Los Angeles under Lighthouse Bible Church. John recently stepped down from pastoral ministry after almost 38 years and is now serving with The Master’s Academy International as Asia Regional Coordinator and Consultant for the Center for Biblical Missions. He also serves with the Master’s Fellowship as Director of Pastoral Care and Director of Asian American Ministries.
He went to UCLA for undergrad and then The Master’s Seminary to earn a Master’s of Divinity in 1991. He recently received his Doctor of Ministry in Asian American Ministries from Talbot School of Theology in 2023.
John and Angela are now empty nesters, enjoy evening walks with their dog Romeo, and have been getting reconnected with their Korean roots by going to Korea the past two summers and watching Korean dramas on Netflix.
This conference is the fruit of John Kim's encouragement and support as he called these brothers to partner together and encourage others who are serving in the challenging and necessary immigrant church context.
John will be emcee of the event and moderating Q&A panels after each main session.
